Pedigree Bark in the Park Presented by Food Lion

A festival for dogs and the people they own

Welcome to the 8th Annual Pedigree Bark in the Park Top Dog Festival presented by Food Lion held on April 28, 2012 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. The festival is a signature event of the Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department with proceeds benefiting the County’s off-leash dog parks. The festival is also utilized as an adoption drive to find homes for our canine friends. Festival entry and parking are free. At the event, enter and/or enjoy contests for best costume, best bark, largest dog, smallest dog, best trick, throw & catch, and disc long-shot catch, watch the Pooch Parade of Adoptable Dogs, enjoy exhibits, dog products, prize drawings, musical entertainment, good food and more. Last year’s event had over 15,500 in attendance with over 5,000 dogs. Sign-up your dog for this year’s Top Dog contest at from March 5 to March 23. Last year, more than 70 photos were submitted; the winner was a 4 1/2 –year old miniature dachshund named Bella, featured in this year’s logo. Judges will select three finalist photos for cleverness, originality and appearance. The Top Dog and owner will receive a professional portrait by Tianna Fisher, a year’s supply of dog food and be grand marshals of the Pooch Parade at Bark in the Park.
